Are all of your partners religious based? While many of our global partners have religious affiliations, team members are not required to be religious. Historically, churches and religious organizations have played a significant role in caring for communities, leading humanitarian efforts, medical centers and aiding in poverty. This tradition stems from their commitment to service and compassion. It wasn’t until more recent history that governments began to take a more active role in humanitarian efforts. Today, we collaborate with a diverse range of partners, to maximize our imPAct and reach those in need.
-
What if I’m not religious? Do I have to participate?Yes, the expectation is for you to embrace the cultural experience. As a visitor in this region, it’s important to respect the local culture, practices, and religious beliefs. Our global partners will also be mindful of your beliefs and practices, ensuring mutual respect throughout your stay. This cultural exchange is a valuable part of the experience, fostering understanding and appreciation for diverse perspectives in life.
-
Will I have Wifi on the trip?Short answer: It depends. Most of our global partners provide WiFi at their accommodations. However, when you are in hospitals, clinics, schools, or out serving the community, WiFi access may not be available. We recommend preparing for limited connectivity during these times to ensure you can fully engage with the community and the work at hand.
-
Will we have homework?Yes, learning is a main objective of this experience. You will most likely have pre-trip work to complete before you go, which will be discussed in your team meetings. During the trip, your team ambassador will review main ideas daily, facilitate guided discussions, and support your learning through the global health experience. Expect to come back changed and equipped to provide better care as a healthcare provider.
